Lindsay Event Center Ribbon Cutting Marks Completion of Community Facility Project

Lindsay, NE — Community leaders, project partners, and residents gathered on Thursday, January 8, 2026, to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the Lindsay Event Center, marking the completion of a multi-phase community facility project led by Lindsay Area Development and designed to serve Lindsay and the surrounding region.

The initial portion was completed in September 2025, which encompassed the Bank of Lindsay Wellness Center, FCA Lindsay Fitness Center, and Lindsay Public Library, all intentionally designed to function through a shared-use model. A parallel project that was completed in December 2024 was the construction of Lindsay Academy Jr./Sr. High School and is adjacent to the Event and Wellness Center. With the completion of the Lindsay Event Center the long-term vision for a connected, community-centered facility serving residents, and the surrounding region is now fully realized.

“For many years, our community has discussed the need for a range of facilities, but pursuing individual projects simply wasn’t feasible. What changed was our ability to design a single, flexible facility that could serve multiple needs. By ensuring each space could support a variety of functions and by forming strong partnerships around a shared-use model, we were finally able to bring this vision to life. Today, that vision has become a reality: a space designed for the entire region to use and benefit from,” Aaron Reichmuth, Director and a founding member of Lindsay Area Development.

The Lindsay Event Center is a multifunction, open-concept venue designed to host a wide range of events including weddings, community celebrations, corporate meetings, trade shows, and live performances. The venue features a theatrical stage with professional lighting and sound, a catering kitchen, a bar area with flexible service
options, and a multipurpose room that can also serve as a private bridal suite or prep room for performers. With flexible floor space, the venue easily transforms to accommodate everything from elegant receptions and presentations to concerts, recitals, and ceremonies.

The space also supports athletic use, converting into one (1) regulation basketball court or two (2) regulation volleyball courts with mobile bleachers and portable scoreboards. When combined with the Bank of Lindsay Wellness Center, the facility expands further, offering additional rooms and flexible spaces that allow the campus to host large scale athletic tournaments and multi-court competitions that draw participants and visitors from across the region.

“Our vision was simple: to bring people together. Communities are strongest when everyone works collaboratively, and Lindsay was missing the kind of space that makes that possible. We are already seeing the results, with families and organizations actively booking the event center. The impact of this project is being felt across the community. People are coming to town for events and supporting local businesses, housing is expanding with new construction and new residents, and neighboring communities are choosing Lindsay as a destination for their own tournaments and gatherings. There is a great deal of excitement, and the positive effects of this project will be felt for many years to come,” Amber Klassen, President of Lindsay Area Development.

Local leaders identified a growing need for indoor event space, expanded wellness amenities, and modern athletic facilities to support both community life and regional activity. Prior to this project, Lindsay lacked the capacity to host larger events, tournaments, and programs under one roof. The completed facility now strengthens community connectivity, supports healthy lifestyles, and positions Lindsay as a destination for events across the area.
The ribbon cutting celebration included remarks from Lindsay Area Development board members, self-guided tours of the complex, and an opportunity for attendees to view how the Event Center connects with the Wellness Center and Lindsay Academy.

With construction now complete, the Lindsay Event Center stands as the final component of a thoughtfully planned facility designed to meet current needs while supporting future growth for Lindsay and neighboring communities.
