operation near Albion, Nebraska, Niewohner Entities has grown to 3 cattle feedlots, as well as
farrow to finish swine confinement. Other divisions include The Batch Box, SiDump'r, Feeding
System, Beaver Bearing, and Upper Iowa Beef.
General Purpose
MSJM Properties Partnership (Niewohner Entities) is seeking a Swine Data Analyst to oversee
data management and reporting for swine production. This role combines expertise in data
analytics with knowledge of the swine industry to provide actionable insights for improving
efficiency, herd health, and compliance. Additionally, this position will be responsible for trailer
inspections and DEQ reporting to ensure compliance with biosecurity, transportation, and
environmental regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Collect, process, and manage swine production data, including feed efficiency, growth
rates, and health metrics. - Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover trends and patterns in swine-related
datasets. - Develop predictive models to improve herd management and productivity.
- Create dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau to visualize key
performance indicators (KPIs). - Ensure data quality by cleaning and validating datasets for accuracy and consistency.
- Support decision-making by analyzing genomic or environmental factors affecting swine
performance. - Perform closeouts and cost analysis of pig production.
- Data entry of all invoices from swine vendors.
- Communicate and utilize Metafarms to accurately perform closeouts.
Trailer Inspection & Biosecurity Compliance
- Conduct routine inspections of livestock trailers to ensure they meet biosecurity,
sanitation, and maintenance standards. - Document trailer conditions, identify potential issues, and communicate necessary
corrective actions. - Work closely with transportation teams to enforce company policies and regulatory
requirements. - Monitor trailer utilization and ensure proper scheduling for animal movements
according to biosecurity and animal handling guidelines. - Establish times, drivers, and equipment for animal movements and communicate
schedules to relevant stakeholders, including drivers, site staff, and packing facilities. - Document all issues and change requests related to animal movements to support
process improvements.
DEQ Reporting & Environmental Compliance
- Prepare, maintain, and submit environmental compliance reports to the DEQ to ensure
adherence to all state and federal regulations. - Monitor and report on environmental impact factors such as water usage, manure
management, and air quality. - Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations related to swine production and
transportation. - Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, permits, and regulatory filings.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with veterinarians, geneticists, and farm managers to align data insights
with operational goals. - Communicate performance information such as weights, DOA (dead on arrival) rates,
and other key metrics. - Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Data Analytics, Agribusiness, Environmental
Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Previous experience in swine production, data analysis, environmental compliance, or
logistics preferred. - Knowledge of biosecurity protocols, trailer sanitation requirements, and DEQ
regulations. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and visualize complex data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, Tableau, and data management software.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an agricultural setting, including exposure to livestock, dust, odors, and
varying weather conditions. - Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and perform manual inspections.
Dress and Personal Protective Equipment
Must wear appropriate clothing for all operations to protect against injury—Safety eyewear
when loading/unloading, when servicing vehicle make sure all PPE is being worn such as gloves
and glasses.
